Fat Schmuck

We have a new roommate. His real name is Kuro Kitten, but we call him something else. His short fluffy life has so far been dedicated to stuffing his face full of alarming amounts of kibble, running into furniture and sitting on my keyboard while I'm trying to work. Oh, and he farts like a senior citizen dining at Luby's.

His saving grace is that he loves everyone, will kiss your face on command and has somehow taught himself to play fetch with his favorite dingy toy, which he carries around the house from room to room.

Downhill in Heels

It's tough to walk down a steep hill in heels, but this lady managed to do it with both grace and style. Props to you, girl.

Landscape Sketch Day 10 - Swallow's Nest Castle, Crimean Peninsula, Ukraine

I think this will be the last one for a bit. Ok so I didn't quite make it to 20, but 10 seems good enough for now.

Landscape Sketch Day 9 - Boardman State Park, Oregon

Someone once told me that being able to see your own mistakes is always better than being blind to them, because then you can see the path to improving yourself. The flip side of that is some days, it's hard to not get caught in the avalanche of self criticism.

That being said, those trees look awfully dorky. But that's the curse and advantage of just doing quick daily things.

Landscape Sketch Day 7 - San Miguel, Mexico

Ok so I cheated, this one took about an hour. I really wanted to get the perspective better (even if it's not perfect) and the lighting right.

I started off in a greyscale sketch, which was different for me. Unfortunately I ignored the alarm and then lost track of time. But I'm much happier with today's entry than yesterday. :)

Landscape Sketch Day 5 - Brooklyn Bridge, New York

I needed to change things up a bit, so here is something urban at night.
edit: bleh! blogspot has been shifting the colors and contrast on me, and it's really noticeable today. :\

Landscape Sketch Day 4 - Village in Rougon, France

The village part of this one slowed me down considerably. I need to figure out how to imply complexity instead of over rendering things that aren't important and detracting from the composition as a whole. The brain only needs hints of detail to fill in the blanks.

Landscape Sketch Day 3 - Leprechaun Lake, WA

More water and rocks. Why? Because mileage, that's why.

Landscape Sketch Day 2 - Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

One day I'd like to visit Vietnam, some friends of mine are over there now with their new baby. Again 30 minutes, photoshop. I'm learning a lot about brushes. There are more midtones than I'd like in this one. but I do like the color palette.

Landscape Sketch Day 1 - Mountainside View

Happy New Year! As part of my daily routine and resolution to be better at life, I'll be posting a ~30min digital painting every day for 20 days. This set will either be digital Plein Air paintings pulled off of Google Maps or be modeled after random photos in my travel pinterest feed.

I can't find the info for this first one, but I'll be include the location (and photographer if available) for future posts.
