Inktober #2

Been loving this!  I was really into drawing and inking comics back in high school. Haven't done pen and ink for a while, much less markers.

It was a treat to open up my prismacolors from college and find out that they're all still in good working order. :)

June #1 - Wonder Woman

Somewhere towards the end of May, I started to fall into a giant chasm of a rut. Except it wasn't so much falling as clumsily tumbling down a slope of fail in slow motion, for whatever reason being unable to stop the descent as all creative attempts ended up a steaming pile of shame. I can only describe it as an underwater shit ballet that I was tired of and just trying to wait out.

In the end it took some wallowing, a couple of spicy margaritas and zoning out to lots of Southpark and Daredevil on Netflix for me to climb out my pool of fail. I don't really have much of a following, but seeing positive feedback really does help me escape the dark places of art doom. (always!)

So thank you again for your views and likes, they spur me on to get better and not worry about how long it might be taking me. Here is my much delayed first post of June, hooray for fanart.

Day 2, back in photoshop. Lost some of her cartoony spunk and expression, but I'm going to keep going just to have fun and see what comes out of it.

SuperGirls #1

Back in my middle school years, my parents used to go to a lot of Taiwanese Association dinner parties. All of the kids would hang out while the parents were doing their thing. Most of the them would hang out in the den watching movies. As often as I could, I remember ditching the other girls and running upstairs to shut myself in with the high school boys (so cool.) These sweet guys were nerdy before it was cool. They were awesome enough to introduce me to inking, lend me some of their pricey prismacolor pencils, and let me rifle through their Jim Lee comics (oh so many trenchcoats!) They did a lot to encourage me through those years, and I really looked up to them.

Only one of those guys is still actively drawing (http://daystorm.deviantart.com/) but they are the inspiration behind my new sketchdump series of SuperGirls. Only this first one is literally Super Girl. The goal here is to get in the habit of posting again, doing thumbnails and rough poses. I'll post the one I like best out of each exercise.
